Current Schedule of Meetings

Note that most meetings are at St Mary's Church (see Our Home) and start at 11 AM. About once a month, usually on the second Saturday, there is an additional session at 2:15 as noted. Twice a month we meet jointly with City Lights. One of these joint meetings is at the City Lights location at Quaker Center (see our directions page).

Guest Speaker: Dr Charlene Floyd  Morning Topic: Christian Voices: Journeys through Faith and Politics in Contemporary American Protestantism   Afternoon Topic: United Methodist Church and the Christian Right   Bio: A Political Scientist, Professor at NY Theological Seminary and wife of a Methodist minister.   Notes: In the morning service she shares the story and findings of her new book. In the afternoon Charlene tells us about the ongoing attempt by the Christian Right to surreptitiously seize control of the United Methodist Church and to change its social programs. She has spoken on the topic several times for Ron's class and the story is spell-binding and something we need to know about. City Lights will meet with us at St Mary's.

History Series: Terry Anderson and Ed Samuel(?)  Morning Topic: The works of St Bernard of Clairvaux   Notes: St Bernard was a prominent mystic voice in the 12th century Church and founder of the Cistercian order. We will read some of St Bernard's sermons, poetry and other writings and discuss them and their impact on the Church. This is a follow on to our brief examination of his life at our August meeting.

Guest Speaker: Mei Ann Teo  Morning Topic: Red Books: Our Search for Ellen White   Afternoon Topic: Red Book DVD viewing of the play   Bio: Mei is a theater director, well know for her work in San Francisco, and currently artist-in-residence at Pacific Union College where she has produced an exciting play, The Red Books based on over 200 interviews with Adventists of various ages on how Ellen White has influenced Adventists over the decades.
